At age six, Rossin began painting and by the age of nine he was assisting local masters at their studios in his native Bulgaria. At nineteen, he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in the capital city of Sofia and became the youngest artist ever to join the prestigious Union of Bulgarian Artists (most of his colleagues were in their late thirties). Rossin entered The Art Academy of Sofia where he was the first student selected among 1,200 candidates for only nine coveted positions. Graduating with Special Honors for painting in 2001, he began traveling extensively around Europe and participating in several esteemed art fairs in Germany, France, England and Belgium. From 1992-1996, Rossin was commissioned by more than seventy congressmen, businessmen and prominent families in Japan. He was invited to paint the President of Bulgaria for the Presidential Office and in 1998 he was hired for the portrait of the Lebanese Patriarch in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as the President of Cyprus. Two weeks after the tragic death of Princess Diana, Rossin was invited to London to paint her portrait for the Roy Miles Gallery. Rossin moved to Atlanta with his wife, Dessie and young son, Michael, in October of 2001. The newest addition to their family, Savannah, was born on January 8th, 2005. Some of Rossin's most recent commissions include President George W. Bush with President George H.W. Bush for the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, former U.S. Attorney General Griffin Bell and two former Chairmans of the Coca-Cola Company, Mr. Roberto Goizueta and Mr. Douglas Ivester along with J. Alton Wingate, CEO of Community Bankshares, Inc and Mr. Harry Norman for Harry Norman Realtors. Harvard University Law School hired Rossin for portraits of Mr. Archibald Cox and Dean Robert Clark. Emory University's President William Chase and Dean Tom Robinson are among academic clients that include Mercer University, the University of Georgia, Reinhardt College, Clark Atlanta University, Brenau University, Oglethorpe University, Pace Academy and The Westminster Schools. Rossin has been commissioned by Crawford Long Hospital for portraits of John D. Henry, Sr, and Dr. Linton H. Bishop, Jr. and by Equifax for their CEO, Tom Chapman. Other noted clients include Britney Spears, Former Miss America, Neva Jane Fickling, and the children of singers Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. The Atlanta History Center holds a painting of the former editor of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Mr. Jack Spalding. Rossin has received commissions from the Atlanta law firms of Kilpatrick Stockton, Troutman Sanders and King & Spalding. Portraits of several judges whom Rossin has painted are displayed in various Georgia courtrooms include Judge Marion T. Pope, Jr., Judge Michael Roach, Judge Nick Nichols, Judge George Carley, Judge Harold Hill, Judge Stan Gault and Judge Dorothy Beasley. U. S. District Court Judges include Judge Owen Forrester and Judge Willis B. Hunt. Another dimension of Rossin's talent and enthusiasm for the United States is depicted by his grand undertaking titled "A Meeting in Time", a masterpiece which includes all the Presidents who served in the 20th Century. On an heroic scale of 13 by 20 feet, it is an astonishing tour de force and is now traveling. |
